Right as Rain at The Davis Performing Arts Center

January 25th-27th, 2007
Davis Performing Center
Cosponsor: Program in Performing Arts

Right as Rain juxtaposes an expressionistic retelling of the Anne Frank story with the trial at Nuremberg of Arthur Seyss-Inquart, the Nazi official most directly responsible for the round-up of Jews in the Netherlands. A celebration of Anne's fierce spirit of inquiry and the enduring power of imagination, the play Right as Rain was originally commissioned in 1993 by Facing History & Ourselves and the Spertus Museum in Chicago in association with the International museum exhibit 'Anne Frank in the World.'

In its initial version it had an acclaimed extended run at Synergy Theater Center in Chicago and then toured locally and nationally for three years. For this workshop, the script will be extensively reworked in collaboration with the ensemble. This performance is geared to audiences ages 12 and up. A discussion with the cast and director/playwright follows each performance. Projection design by Zachary Borovay.
