Michael Kessler

Michael Kessler is Assistant Director of the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs at Georgetown University and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Government. He received his Ph.D. in religion and political theory from the University of Chicago and has studied law at Georgetown University Law Center. His research and writing focus on social, political, and legal theory and philosophical and religious ethics, with particular attention to the secularization of religious culture and the changing bases of political and legal legitimacy under the impact of modernity. His current work is on legal and political notions of fundamental rights and morals legislation.
