Religion and the Nuclear Scenario

Friday, September 28, 2007
Berkley Center Conference Room
Invitation Only

This one day seminar will be multi-disciplinary, bringing together political science, Middle-East studies, religion (Islam, Judaism, Christianity and Hinduism), psychology and other fields. The preliminary purpose is to examine the way that religion might impact a nuclear standoff in the Middle East, although South Asia will also enter the conversation.

Participants will examine what constitutes a religious decision within a political and military context and the manner in which ideology, emotion and rationality might come into play in a standoff with potentially cataclysmic consequences.
