Sojourners and the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs at Georgetown University co-hosted an evening of discussion and debate on Jim Wallis's latest book, The Great Awakening: Reviving Faith & Politics in a Post–Religious Right America. The presentation was followed by a book signing. A special portion of the presentation included a dialogue with E.J. Dionne Jr., long-time op-ed columnist for The Washington Post.
Jim Wallis is a bestselling author, public theologian, speaker, preacher, and international commentator on religion and public life, faith and politics. His previous book, God's Politics: Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It (Harper Collins, 2005), was on the New York Times bestseller list for 4 months. He is President and Chief Executive Officer of Sojourners; where he is editor-in-chief of Sojourners magazine.
EJ Dionne is considered among the best of America's new crop of columnists. He is a University Professor at Georgetown University and a senior fellow at The Brookings Institution. His book Why Americans Hate Politics (1991), won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and was a National Book Award nominee. He is also author of Stand Up Fight Back: Republican Toughs, Democratic Wimps, and the Politics of Revenge (2004), and They Only Look Dead: Why Progressives Will Dominate The Next Political Era (1996).
