Faith and Maternal Mortality
On June 15, 2011, the WFDD and Berkley Center hosted a consultation exploring the faith dimensions of maternal mortality to better understand the actions and experiences of religious institutions and leaders in the sector. Building off a recent WFDD draft report on the topic, the discussion focused on the role of faith-inspired organizations in maternal mortality work and the links with child marriage, girls' education, and women's economic empowerment. Broader challenges and strategies in this area of development were discussed.
