Pope Francis' Diplomacy

April 20, 2015
7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. EDT

In the middle of December 2014, when news broke that the United States and Cuba were on the path to normalizing relations for the first time in over 50 years, Pope Francis was hailed for his key role in finalizing the deal. The Holy Father was once again surprising the world with his words and actions.

Former ambassador to the Vatican and author of The Global Vatican (2013), Francis Rooney, discussed the role of the Pope and the Vatican in global politics. He gave attendees an inside look at the Catholic Church and world politics in light of new developments.

This event was co-sponsored by the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs,
Catholic Chaplaincy, and the School of Foreign Service.
