Joan Anderson
Joan Anderson is a member of the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) Office of Public Information, where she supports SGI's environmental education projects, edits the SGI Quarterly magazine, and serves as SGI's liaison with the UN, NGOs, and the media. After graduating from St. Andrews University, she edited trade magazines in London before joining Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO is the UK equivalent of the Peace Corps) as editor of its magazine, Orbit, in 1987. In 1990, she undertook an assessment visit to Cambodia for VSO and set up its Cambodian program in 1991. Joan then helped coordinate Save the Children UK's humanitarian program in Iraq until 1993, when she returned to Cambodia as country director of Save the Children UK's projects assisting vulnerable children. She has been a practicing Buddhist since 1986.
