Musimbi Kanyoro
Musimbi Kanyoro assumes the position of CEO and President of the Global Fund for Women (GFW) on August 1, 2011. She has been director of the Population and Reproductive Health Program of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation since 2007. She previously lived and worked in Geneva, Switzerland, serving from 1998 to 2007 as general secretary of the World YWCA, and worked with the Lutheran World Federation before that. She serves on the boards of the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC), Realizing Rights, the Ethical Globalization Initiative, and the Legacy Foundation. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and her MA and Ph.D. at the University of Texas, Austin. She has a doctorate of ministry from San Francisco Theological School in San Anselmo, California, and was a visiting scholar at Harvard University. She has received several awards including two honorary doctorates.
