Union of Jewish Women of South Africa
Founded in 1931, the Union of Jewish Women of South Africa (UJWSA) is dedicated to serving all communities of South Africa through its work to help educate poor mothers, promote the rights and status of women, and strengthen Jewish identity and the community’s links to Israel. In recent years, the organization has launched a number of projects including delivery of kosher meals, health services (including a national bone marrow registry), support services for abused women, and support for Hebrew University in Israel. It also sponsors preschool education and offers scholarships to female undergraduate and graduate students committed to community service after graduation. UJWSA is affiliated with the International Council of Jewish Women.
