Worldwide Fistula Fund
Originally known as the Worldwide Fund for Mothers Injured in Childbirth, the Worldwide Fistula Fund (WFF) is a non-profit organization that provides obstetric fistula surgery for women in sub-Saharan Africa. The fund is led by Dr. Lewis Wall, who notes that FBOs are "centers of excellence" that can make good platforms for fistula care programs. The organization works closely with mission hospitals to develop community-based programs to prevent obstructed labor—often correlated with poverty, early pregnancy, and child marriage—and to provide the proper care for women in need. WFF has partnered with SIM (an international mission and development organization) to launch its first dedicated facility, the Danja Fistula Surgery and Training Center in Niger.
