H.E. Ambassador Aziz Mekouar was the ambassador of Morocco to the United States from 2002 until 2011 and now is an independent advisor and consultant. He participated in the negotiation of the Morocco/United States Free Trade Agreement and the Millennium Challenge Account wherein the United States granted US$697 million for Moroccan development projects. He previously served as ambassador to Italy, Angola, Portugal, Malta, and Albania. Mekouar also served as chairman of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization from 2001 to 2005. As ambassador he made outreach to evangelical Christians one of his priorities, and he has helped organize numerous events promoting Christian-Muslim understanding. Mekouar obtained his business degree from l'Ecole des Hautes Commerciales of Paris and frequently lectures in universities and international conferences.
