Eduardo Peñalver is the president of Seattle University and will become the forty-ninth president of Georgetown University on July 1, 2026. Prior to joining Seattle University he was a professor of law and the Allan R. Tessler Dean of Cornell Law School, where he began working in 2006. He also taught at Fordham Law School and the University of Chicago Law School. He is the co-author of Property Outlaws (2010) and An Introduction to Property Theory (2011). Prior to getting his law degree from Yale Law School, Peñalver received his B.A. from Cornell and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oriel College, Oxford, where he studied theology and philosophy.
