Emily Atkinson
Raised outside of Chicago, Emily Atkinson is a junior at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she is pursuing a double major in Anthropology and English Literature. Her studies of human society, culture, and moral concepts led to her appointment as a Fellow at the Kahn Institute at Smith and have contributed to her ethnography of an online sociopath community as a part of the Institute’s Project on Evil, which examines the idea of evil from a diverse array of perspectives. A published fiction writer and poet, she hopes to follow in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes and become the world’s first non-fictional consulting detective. Barring this unlikely opportunity, she intends to pursue a graduate degree in Anthropology followed by law school, with the goal of becoming either a constitutional lawyer or public defender. In 2012 she was a Millennial Values Fellow in conjunction with the Berkley Center's project on young Americans, faith, and values.BLOG POSTS
