Ganga Moorthy

Born in India and raised in Alva, Oklahoma, Ganga Moorthy is now a senior at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in Microbiology with minors in Chemistry and Medical Humanities. In addition to receiving top academic distinction in the Natural Sciences, she has been very involved in campus life and community service. She founded OU’s Global Medical Brigades, for which she organized and led trips to Honduras and Ghana to provide communities with sustainable health care solutions. Her options after graduating include medical school, Teach For America, or spending a year working on public health in India or Ghana. Her career plan is to become a physician working at the interface of social justice, development, and global health. Every day, she writes a thank you note, reads the New York Times, and eats a cupcake. In 2012 she was a Millennial Values Fellow in conjunction with the Berkley Center's project on young Americans, faith, and values.
