Josep "Pep" Mària Serrano, SJ, is a professor of economics at ESADE business school, Barcelona. His research focuses on business ethics, with particular areas of interest in businesses’ role in developing the poor countries of Latin America and Africa and in the intersection of business, society, and values. Mària has published numerous articles in journals including the Journal of Business Ethics, African Journal of Economic and Management Studies, and International Journal of Production Economics; he is the author of Globalization (2006, in Spanish) and a number of other monographs and book chapters. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Barcelona and had done theological study at the Facultat de Teologia de Catalunya.
