Dr. Mohammad Hashim Kamali is the founding CEO and chairman of the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies of Malaysia. He has previously served as dean and professor at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization and the International Islamic University in Malaysia. Kamali was an original signatory to the "A Common Word Between Us and You" statement. Kamali is the author of numerous books, including Shari'ah Law: An Introduction (2008). He completed B.A. at Kabul University and his LL.M. in comparative law and Ph.D in Islamic and Middle Eastern law at the University of London.
