Pippa Norris is the McGuire Lecturer in Comparative Politics at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, as well as ARC Laureate Fellow and professor of Government at the University of Sydney. She has also served as Director of the Democratic Governance Group at the United Nations Development Programme. Her research looks at democracy, political communications, elections and public opinion, and gender politics. Her most recent books include Democratic Governance and Human Security: The Impact of Regimes on Prosperity, Welfare and Peace (2012), Democratic Deficit: Critical Citizens Revisited (2011), and Cosmopolitan Communications: Cultural diversity in a Globalized World (2009). She has consulted for the UN, UNESCO, International IDEA, the Council of Europe, the National Endowment for Democracy, and the UK Electoral Commission. Norris has also held visiting appointments at a number of universities. She holds a B.A. from Warwick University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Politics from the London School of Economics.
