Zachary Yentzer

Zachary Yentzer is a senior Political Science major at Arizona State University. As a 2011 Boren Scholar in Kosovo he spent a year in a country still progressing through a post-war process of supervised independence and democratization, gaining firsthand experience in democracy from the ground-up and finding solutions to difficult questions all democracies face at one time or the other. Zach focused on improving democratic engagement while working on the State Department project “Future Voters of Kosovo,” which was established in the Kosovo public school system and endeavored to engage students between the ages of 12-18 in issues key to their country’s development and give them a voice in parallel voting. Zach believes that voter turnout is the source of many challenges America faces today, including extreme partisanship, radical forms of media, and class warfare.
