Bringing Intercommunal Cooperation and Religious Voices into Humanitarian and Development Policy: Recommendations for Policy Makers

Author: Katherine Marshall

November 1, 2011

At the request of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAoC), a Berkley partner, Senior Fellow Katherine Marshall researched the current state of cooperation in humanitarianism and development, and ways of cooperation can enhance peaceful coexistence, under the auspices of UNAoC’s thematic platform, "Bridging the Divide in Development and Humanitarian Work." Addressing issues involved in bringing religious voices into humanitarian and development policy, the resulting paper and the policy brief identify gaps and priority issues, and provide recommendations for IGOs, faith-inspired organizations, governments, and the media.
This policy brief outlines priority issues, knowledge challenges, and ten key action points. The policy brief and the working paper are the result of “dialogue in action” encouraged by the UNAoC and supported by Switzerland.
