Junior Year Abroad Network Annual Report 2013-2014

September 22, 2014

The Junior Year Abroad Network (JYAN) connects study abroad students in a global conversation on religion, politics, and culture. Eighty-three Hoyas in 35 countries on five continents—from Chile to Jordan to China—share their experiences and observations through a series of in-depth letters that are posted on the Berkley Center website. Part of the Doyle Engaging Difference Initiative, JYAN is structured as an online conversation that encompasses network participants as well as faculty and the wider Georgetown community. The program in many ways serves as a microcosm of globalization and the growing interconnectedness of the world. As this report highlights, the political, cultural, and economic impact of development and globalization emerged as one of the preeminent themes among blogs from across the globe.
