Alamgir Welfare Trust
The Alamgir Welfare Trust (AWT) is a non-governmental organization which has been providing social welfare services in Pakistan since its founding in 1993. It is primarily funded through zakat donations. The AWT started by distributing food to the impoverished, including prisoners, orphans, and poor students among others. It now provides medical services, including ambulances, dowries for underprivileged girls, blankets, coursebooks for students, burial services, and financial support for the hajj to those in need.
