Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy
Founded in March 1999, the Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy (CSID) is a Washington, DC-based organization dedicated to studying Islamic and democratic political thought and merging them into a modern Islamic democratic discourse in the United States and around the world. The center also hopes to improve Americans' understanding of Islam's approach towards these issues. In addition, CSID sponsors an annual conference, international workshops, public lectures and seminars, publications, and education and training programs on Islam, democracy, citizenship, law, and human rights. The website has an automatic translation feature from English into Arabic and Persian. Complete issues of multiple years worth of its quarterly bulletin, Muslim Democrat, and its monthly bulletin, Democracy Watch, are posted online (the latter in Arabic as well as English), along with other articles, bulletins, and book descriptions.
