Mexican Episcopal Conference
The Mexican Episcopal Conference (CEM) is as the official representative of Catholic bishops in Mexico. Its various permanent commissions focus on diverse topics ranging from religious doctrine and liturgy to indigenous and labor issues. The CEM is also charged with handling interreligious dialogue and promoting inter-church solidarity. Its communication office issues statements and shares documents considered pertinent to public debates. The CEM is directly involved in a variety of social welfare and development programs, in large part through the national branch of Caritas, the international Catholic aid organization.
