National Committee of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement of the Protestant Churches in China

Founded in 1954, the National Committee of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM) is an umbrella organization sanctioned by the government for all Protestant churches in China. Initiated by a member of the Congregational Church, Y.T. Wu, the Three-Self Patriotic Movement promoted a strategy of “self-governance, self-support, and self-propagation” in order to remove foreign influences from the Chinese churches and to assure the communist government of their loyalty to the newly-established People's Republic of China. The TSPM ceased operation during the Cultural Revolution and restored its activities in 1979. It remains a key official umbrella organization for Protestantism in China, in contrast to the underground churches movement. The TSPM is located in Shanghai.
中国基督教三自爱国运动委员会（TSPM）成立于1954年，是由政府批准的大陆所有新教教会的联盟组织。“三自爱国运动”由公理会成员吴耀宗发起，提倡“自治、自养、自传”的策略，以消除外国势力对中国教会的影响，向共产党政府保证教会对新成立的中国人民共和国的忠诚。中国基督教三自爱国运动委员会在文化大革命期间停止运作，并在1979年恢复其活动。与地下教会运动相比，它仍然是一个新教在中国的核心官方联盟组织。中国基督教三自爱国运动委员会会址设于上海。
