Zimbabwe Association of Church-Related Hospitals

The Zimbabwe Association of Church-Related Hospitals (ZACH) assists and supports its 126 member institutions in the provision of quality health care and service delivery to the most poverty-stricken groups in Zimbabwean society. ZACH facilitates member coordination with the government, staff training, capacity building and information management, and funding and equipment procurement. It also supports HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment strategies and community support programs. In Round 5 of the Global Fund, ZACH received a grant of nearly US$3.5 million to reduce tuberculosis morbidity and mortality in the country; political instability in the country has also redirected donor funds away from the government towards private institutions like ZACH. In late 2010 the ZACH Training School also participated in an international short-term return program that brought diaspora health care professionals back to Zimbabwe to teach and train others.
