Nhek Buntha
Her Excellency Nhek Buntha heads the Buddhist Association in Cambodia, where she has held numerous leadership positions since 2001. She also serves as head of the Board of Directors of the Cambodian Buddhist Association of Nuns and Lay Women. Buntha holds a master's degree from Chamroeun University of Poly-Technology and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy at the Royal Academy of Cambodia. At the urging of Venerable Somdech Non Nget and Venerable Samdech Preah Mongol Tebachaya Um Shum, Buntha established the Buddhist Debate program at the Buddhist Association. Today, the debate program is well-known inside Cambodia as the premier format for discussing current issues and emerging trends pertaining to Cambodian Buddhism. Buntha continues to study Buddhism with her teacher and mentor, Venerable Ho Huon at Chambok Meas Temple in Phnom Penh.
