Teresa Okure

Teresa Okure, a Sister of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, is Professor of New Testament and Gender Hermeneutics at the Catholic Institute of West Africa, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, where she has served in various leadership roles, including academic dean, dean of student affairs, and head of the Department of Biblical Studies. Okure is a member of various national and international theological and biblical associations, the founding president of the Catholic Biblical Association of Nigeria (CABAN), and is a well-known biblical scholar who has lectured widely. She is a co-editor of the biblical commentary series Texts@Contexts (2010-) and Global Bible Commentary (2004). Okure earned her PhD at Fordham University.
