Humanitarianism and World Order
The Humanitarianism and Religion program at the University of Minnesota's Hubert Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs critically explores the historical development and contemporary institutions and practices of international humanitarianism. Specifically, the program seeks to understand the roles which religion has played in the development and promotion of humanitarianism, along with the ways in which these roles can be utilized in relieving the suffering of strangers. While no specific programs on religion, humanitarianism, and international affairs exist, Humanitarianism and Religion offers courses that examine humanitarianism and maintains an extensive list of monthly seminars and discussions on the subject. The program was a recipient of funding from the Mellon Foundation and the Henry R. Luce Initiative in Religion and International Affairs.
