Religion and the State Project
Sponsored by Bar-Ilan University, the Religion and the State Project (RAS) gauges the intersection of government and religion by examining policies on religion. The resulting dataset measures this intersection for 175 states yearly between 1990 and 2002 and categorized the various types of relationships between government and religion. The dataset and codebook are available for download on the site, as are the datasets from the Minorities at Risk project (link to MAR entry). The site provides a bibliography of related books, articles, and dissertations that use the RAS dataset. The links page offers information on other useful resources about religion and the state. RAS is an official Association of Religion Data Archives affiliate.
