Address of His Holiness John Paul II to Members of the Delegation of the Holy See to the Fourth World Conference on Women
August 29, 1995
This speech by the late Pope John Paul II reiterates the importance of upholding equal dignity of men and women and pursuing equality of access to education, health care and other basic resources. It also emphasizes the need for leadership of both women and men within the Catholic Church in meeting the needs of disadvantaged women throughout the world. In addition, John Paul II calls attention to the need for solidarity among Christians and moral leadership where issues of gender roles in family and society are concerned, focusing on Catholic centers of higher education as well as lay and religious organizations within the Church.
