In her speech to the International Meeting of the Community of Sant'Egidio, Katherine Marshall focuses on the special challenges of globalization today, namely poverty, HIV/AIDS, and inequality in education. She discusses the challenges of global citizenship, the salience of poverty and social justice in the modern world, and threats and opportunities for daily citizens. She believes something must be done to address the stark differences between the world of abundance and opportunity and the world of danger and misery.
