Partnering with Religious Communities for Children

January 1, 2012
UNICEF's report on“Partnering with Religious Communities for Children” intends to bolster partnerships with religious communities and make them more effective to improve children’s lives. This report provides information about religious traditions and identifies the diverse perspectives that exist within and outside the same traditions. The report includes examples of effective partnerships and best practices across a broad range of program areas such as child protection, education, health, nutrition, and HIV/AIDS. It also contains lists of partners within the UN, other multilateral agencies, and civil societies to serve as a resource for field staff across a wide spectrum of focus areas. The report suggests that identification of a common ground, maximization of comparative advantages, and open dialogue on complex, sensitive issues are critical to succeed in deepening partnerships with religious communities.
