United States Department of State: International Religious Freedom Reports
The Department of State's Office of International Religious Freedom issues annual international religious freedom reports to Congress. Each of these provides a global summary of religious demographics, as well as social and political conditions related to U.S. religious freedom policy. The individual country reports include sections describing religious demography, the country's legal/policy framework toward religion, restrictions and abuses, forced conversions, improvements, social attitudes toward religious communities, and details of U.S. religious freedom policy initiatives in the country in question. The Office of International Religious Freedom prepares the reports using data collected by U.S. embassy officials and from a variety of government and non-governmental sources in each country, as well as other country and religion experts. The reports are a helpful source for up-to-date summaries of political, social, and sometimes historical context regarding religion in a particular country.
