The Muslim World

Leading up to a December 2007 consultation in Doha, the Berkley Center produced a background report and conducted pre-consultation interviews with participants in order to facilitate more in-depth examination of best practices and collaborative strategies across a range of contemporary development challenges. The consultation convened scholars and practitioners in Doha to review how emerging institutions in the Muslim world, especially those with explicit faith links, are approaching issues of social and economic development, and the event resulted in a consultation report outlining critical actors, best practices, and ways forward. The consultation was hosted by the Berkley Center and Regional Studies of the School of Foreign Service in Qatar as part of ongoing global mapping of faith-inspired organizations in development work, sponsored by the Luce/SFS Program on Religion and International Affairs.
