United States & Canada
As part of its global mapping of faith-inspired organizations in development work sponsored by the Luce/SFS Program on Religion and International Affairs, the Berkley Center has held consultations and conducted in-depth interviews focused on relief and development organizations based in the United States and Canada. In April 2007 the Berkley Center convened a consultation of scholars and practitioners at Georgetown University to take stock of the wide range of ongoing work by North American organizations that are, in varying ways, inspired by religious faith, and to explore the policy implications of their work. Pre-consultation interviews with participants facilitated more in-depth examination of best practices and collaborative strategies across a range of contemporary development challenges, followed by a consultation report outlining critical actors, best practices, and ways forward.
