Head of the International Olympic Committee and the global representative of the Olympic Movement

The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the global representative of the Olympic Movement and its values. Elected by the Session – the IOC’s supreme decision-making organ – from among the IOC membership for a term of eight years, renewable for another four, the President presides over all IOC activities. In addition to planning the Olympic Games, the President also promotes ideals such as peace, international friendship, and non-discrimination among the countries who participate in the Games and the overall Olympic Movement.
