The Olympic Charter

The governing document of the Olympic Movement that lays out its rules, bylaws, and values

The Olympic Charter is the governing document of the Olympic Movement. In addition to laying out the rules and bylaws for the constitutional bodies of the Movement – the International Olympic Committee (IOC), National Olympic Committees and International Federations, and Organizing Committees for the Olympic Games – the Charter also discusses Olympic values in its section on the Fundamental Principles of Olympism. Adopted by the IOC and last updated in 1992, the Charter provides the framework through which the Olympic Games are brought to fruition and Olympic values are promoted worldwide.
