Conflict and Religion in U.S. Foreign Policy: A New Way?

The panel discussion on "Conflict and Religion in U.S. Foreign Policy: A New Way?" used President Barack Obama's June 2009 Cairo speech to foster a debate about the concrete actions that might enhance U.S. engagement with religious societies worldwide. Participants included Indonesian Ambassador Sudjadnan Parnohadiningrat, Professor Shaun Casey from Wesley Theological Seminary, Amr Ramadan from the Embassy of Egypt, and Nadia Bilbassy-Charters from the Middle East Broadcasting Center, who served as moderator. The event was sponsored by the Center for Strategic and International Studies' Post-Conflict Reconstruction Project with support from the Henry R. Luce Foundation.
