Abaana, a small British FBO founded in 1998, aims to share the love of God in a practical way to those who need it most by working to alleviate poverty among African children. Abaana supports child sponsorship and projects such as school construction and outreach to street children. The organization also works to increase access to basic healthcare and clean water through the construction of wells and water pumps. The majority of Abaana’s projects have been completed in Uganda, but the organization has also worked in Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Zambia. Another key facet of Abaana's mission is its work to inspire affluent young people to make a lasting and tangible commitment to social justice. Abaana has five full-time staff members and many volunteers in Northern Ireland and Uganda and has collected significant donations.
