Al-Hewar Center

Located near Washington, DC, the Al-Hewar Center was established in 1994 by Al-Hewar magazine as an independent forum to promote dialogue between Muslims and Arabs in the United States and larger American society. Since then, the forum has broadened its mission to include intra-Arab dialogue in an effort to unify Arab self-understanding and create a consensus of values within Arab-American and Muslim communities. The center hosts weekly conversations and open discussions on a wide variety of topics and featuring national leaders, politicians, academics, and prominent community members. Discussions are held in both English and Arabic. The center prides itself in reflecting non-partisan ideals, and each event follows a standard discussion format designed to foster equality among participants. Event transcripts, as well as information about Islam, Arab-Americans, and current events can be found on the organization's website.
