Association of Muslim Social Scientists of North America
The Association of Muslim Social Scientists (AMSS) strives to provide a channel for the discussion of Islamic principles and perspectives within academic fields. Founded in 1972, AMSS convenes Muslims and non-Muslims alike in an effort to continue the scientific legacy of the Islamic world and increase the prosperity of the Muslim world at present. To this end, the organization has worked to develop a distinctly Islamic vocabulary on issues of concern within academic fields in order to effectively voice Muslim concerns. AMSS holds an annual conference, hosted each year by a different academic institution in the United States. In addition, it publishes the quarterly American Journal of Islamic Social Sciences, a journal committed to the reconciliation of rational academics with Islamic belief.
