The Buxton Initiative promotes interfaith dialogue by encouraging individuals to develop relationships with those of other faiths. Founded by Dr. Akbar Ahmed and Ambassador J. Douglas Holladay and inspired by their own friendship, the organization focuses on uniting adherents of the Abrahamic faiths. Regular conferences bring opinion leaders in politics, business, media, and the military together for dialogue based on mutual trust. The Buxton Initiative also targets young people through its Young Leaders and Intern Programs, as well as with its series of educational materials on interfaith reconciliation. Throughout all its efforts the organization encourages participants to find practical, effective ways to apply the wisdom they gain through interfaith dialogue.
