Resources on Faith, Ethics and Public Life

Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management

Founded in 1987, the Charted Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) advocates for changing public attitudes and behaviors such as reducing consumption of goods that are environmentally damaging, emphasizing a concern for the greater good and public resources to avoid the tragedy of the commons, and taking collective action within faith groups to find a solution to environmental issues. It maintains a 'Knowledge Network' called Faiths and the Environment. The goal of Faiths and Environment is to emphasize the role of faith-based groups in preserving the environment, outlining the significant impact of altruistic religious communities in a policy statement that addresses responsibilities of faith groups and resources that CIWEM provides to aid groups.
