Earth Charter Initiative
The Earth Charter Initiative is an international civil society network dedicated to promoting sustainable living rooted in a globally accepted ethical framework. The Earth Charter International Council and Secretariat provide leadership and support to the individuals, organizations, governments, and international institutions engaged in Earth Charter activities. Task forces guide networking within six sectors, including religion and spirituality, business, and education. Under the leadership of Dr. Mary Evelyn Tucker and Rabbi Awraham Soetendorp the religion and spirituality task force coordinates outreach to religious leaders, scholars, and other groups focused on religion and sustainability. The "Earth Charter Guide to Religion and Climate Change" offers additional tips for religious involvement in action against climate change. Further, the “Spiritual Dimensions of Sustainable Development Project,” launched in 2012, aims to bring together a worldwide alliance of religious and spiritual leaders to promote awareness and application of sustainable development.
