World Council of Religious Leaders

The World Council on Religious Leaders (WCRL) brings together diverse religious leaders to support the work of the United Nations and other groups in a cooperative effort to address global challenges and promote peace and mutual understanding. An annual meeting encourages religious leaders to interact with individuals from government, business, academia, and civil society and to identify ways religious communities can contribute to conflict resolution and reconciliation. Founded in 2002, WCRL emerged as part of the follow-up to the Millennium World Peace Summit; the organization also participates in the International Day of Peace Vigil and World Youth Peace Summit.
