Francis Cardinal Coccopalmerio is an Italian cardinal and president of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts. In 2007, Coccopalmerio was ordained as archbishop and named president of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts; he was elevated to cardinal in 2012. He is also a member of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, Congregation for the Causes of Saints, and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. Coccopalmerio, born in 1938, studied Canon Law at Pontifical Gregorian University and served in the Archdiocese of Milan for several decades; he subsequently taught canon law before joining the Roman Curia.
