Jan-Peter Balkenende

Jan-Peter Balkenende is a former prime minister of the Netherlands, a post in which he served from 2002 to 2010. Currently, Balkenende works partner at Ernst & Young, focusing on corporate responsibility initiatives, and also teaches at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is a Christian Democrat and a member of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA). Balkenende led four separate cabinets during his time as the Dutch prime minister, and took up the rotating position of president of the European Union in 2004. Prior to his election as prime minister, he was a member of the Dutch House of Representatives from 1998 through 2002.
