Per Stig Møller is a Danish politician who has served in a number of ministerial posts and has been a member of the Danish national parliament—the Folketing—for the Conservative People's Party since 1984. He has been Denmark's minister for the environment (1990-1993), foreign minister (2001-2010), culture minister (2010-2011), and minister for ecclesiastical affairs (March-October 2011). During his time as foreign minister, Møller oversaw much of Denmark's international handling of the Muhammad cartoons controversy in 2005-2006, in which Muslims around the world protested the publication of cartoons of the Islamic prophet Muhammad in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten that they viewed as defamatory.
