Ayatollah Dr. Seyyed Mostafa Mohaghegh Damad (also known as Mohaghegh Ahmadabad) is Professor of Jurisprudence and Law at Shahid Beheshti University, Dean of the Department of Islamic Studies at the Academy of Sciences of Iran, Professor of Islamic Law and Philosophy at Tehran University, and a fellow at the Iranian Academy of Sciences. Damad received his religious education in Qom, Iran. He earned a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Tehran and a PhD in law from the Catholic University of Louvain. He has authored or translated books in Farsi, Arabic, and English, and is also a former Inspector General of Iran. He was one of the 138 Muslim signatories in October 2007 of A Common Word Between Us and You, a letter addressed to Christian leaders in an appeal for peace and cooperation between the two world religions.
