Shaykh Dr. Tayseer Rajab al-Tamimi is the Chief Islamic Justice of Palestine and the head of the Palestinian Center for Religion and Civilization Dialogue. In 2009, he confirmed the appointment of the first two female Islamic judges in Palestine. Al-Tamimi has generated some controversy over statements about Israel's unjust actions towards the Palestinians, particularly those contesting Jewish claims to the city of Jerusalem. He is one of the original signatories of A Common Word Between Us and You, a letter addressed to Christian leaders in an appeal for peace and cooperation between the two religions. He also participated in the first Common Word conference at Yale University.
